It’s Another Royal Wedding: South African, Charlene Wittstock, becomes Monaco’s new Princess

Step aside Prince William and Kate Middleton, the latest royal couple of the year has arrived: Meet Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock, prince and princess of Monaco.

After publicly dating for several years, Prince Albert II has finally married South African Olympic swimmer, Charlene Wittstock!

The couple was married at the Monaco palace in front of senators and government officials. Wittstock wore an ivory satin off-the-shoulder Giorgio Armani dress, adorned with crystals and followed by a long train.

The couple met in 2000 at a swimming competition, in which Charlene took part in Monaco. Six years later, they decided to go open with their relationship at the 2006 opening of the Winter Olympics.

Rumors spread of a delusional Wittstock attempting to escape royal marriage and return to South Africa. Needless to say, the royal palace denied the allegations and dispelled the rumors immediately.

As a princess of a throne, Charlene is expected to produce an heir. She’s only 33, but Prince Albert is twenty years her senior. This places pressure on the couple to produce an heir or heiress.

“We have the intention of starting a family,” Wittstock reveals.
