‘It’s unimaginable’ – Woman loses entire family to COVID-19 as husband, son die within three days

A Michigan woman is devastated after losing her entire family to coronavirus within days. Sandy Brown of Grand Blanc lost her husband, Freddie Lee Brown Jr. and her son, Freddie Lee Brown III, in a span of three days, according to a report by The Detroit News.

“There’s not even a word created to describe my pain. It’s unimaginable,” said Brown, whose husband and son were laid to rest Friday. “In three days, I lost my husband and son to an ugly plague. I watched my son go from completely well and whole and happy to being gone in three days.”

Brown’s husband, who was 59 and had had a kidney transplant, fell sick in March, and soon started having trouble breathing. He was admitted to Ascension Genesys Hospital and later tested positive for coronavirus, according to the report from The Detroit News.

He was put in a medically induced coma, after being placed on a ventilator, the report added. Brown, within days, received a call from the hospital that her husband’s lung collapsed. He then succumbed to the virus.

The following day, Brown’s 20-year-old son, Freddie III, who had asthma, also fell sick with a fever and a cough, the report said. Brown took him to the same hospital; he began to improve but later started finding it difficult to breathe.

In just three days after her husband’s death, Brown received news that her son, who was a student at Mott Community College and her only child, had also died of the virus.

“My two men are gone. I am standing here in the strength of the Lord, not no strength of my own,” Brown told CBS affiliate WWMT-TV.

The coronavirus pandemic has killed over 23,000 Americans and infected more than 587,000. In Michigan, coronavirus cases have passed 25,000 with deaths over 1,600. The governor, Gretchen Whitmer, has banned travel between homes to help curb the spread of the virus.
