Though currently locked up, Atlanta native Rashod Stanley is making good use of any free time he can get to better his skills in fashion designing in a very innovative and ingenious way.
The 25-year-old, who has been incarcerated since 2016 on robbery charges and is in line to be released in October this year is amassing popularity on social media thanks to circulating photos and videos of him modelling in clothing he makes from prison uniforms and materials which he sews with just dental floss and paper clip.
In an interview with TheShadeRoom about his “The Trenches” clothing line which he launched while in prison, Shod spoke about his love for fashion since childhood.
“I would like to think I was the flyest guy in high school and on the streets,” said Shod, who also revealed he got his first store on Bankhead when he was 19 years.
Fully focused on getting his life back on the right track and also expanding his clothing line after prison, Shod wants his story to be an inspiration to others.
“I want people to know my story because location doesn’t determine destination. I want to inspire others to make something out of nothing and reach their full potential without making excuses,” he said.
With his social media following and customer base rapidly growing, Shod told TheShadeRoom his plans for the future and how he intends to give back to the community.
“I want to make a name for myself as a fashion designer in the fashion community. I also want to start a nonprofit organization for low-income communities in Atlanta and eventually expand nationwide,” he said. “I want to be a mentor and public speaker to at-risk kids that’s following down the wrong path.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to raise funds to help with the online store expenses.
