Jay-Z comes to the aid of 21 Savage with legal team

How much support you got? A lot.

The past few days have been challenging for 21 Savage but the support he has been receiving from his peers and colleagues have been overwhelming.

The latest name to throw support behind the Atlanta based and Grammy-nominated rapper who was arrested in Atlanta on Sunday by ICE officials on charges of being in the country illegally is legendary rapper and business mogul Jay-Z.

In a statement released by his RocNation label, Jay-Z called 21 Savage’s arrest and detention a travesty and demanded his immediate release. He also made mention of his pending U Visa application.

“The arrest and detention of 21 Savage is an absolute travesty, his U Visa petition has been pending for 4 years,” the statement read. “In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately.”

Jay-Z’s label also claimed he may have been targeted because he released “an extended version of his single “A Lot” which speaks about immigration injustice.”

In one of the lines in the song, 21 Savage raps: “Been through some things so I can’t imagine my kids stuck at the border.” The RocNation imprint believes his subsequent arrest isn’t a coincidence.

According to TMZ, the RocNation president has taken it a step further by hiring the services of attorney Alex Spiro to help with the case.

“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge … What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed,” Spiro told TMZ.

A highly popular rapper in his supposed home city of Atlanta with a very strong fan base, news of 21 Savage’s arrest came as shock to many as he is always known to be a native of the city.

According to the ICE, the 26-year-old rapper legally entered the United States from the United Kingdom in 2005 with a temporary nonimmigrant visa but failed to leave when the visa expired the following year.
