A Kentucky man is in jail after he admitted to trying to sell a four-year-old African-American child for $2,500 at a Corbin gas station. Harry Day, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge of promoting human trafficking of a child and was sentenced to 360 days in jail on Monday, according to authorities.
In a release issued Wednesday, Kentucky State Police said they received a report on Sunday that Day was trying to sell a child at the Speedy Mart in Corbin, Kentucky. His vehicle was reported while he was at the Speedy Mart, and it was tracked to the home of the child’s mother, Gertrude Henson, 26.
There, police said they found the child as well as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Day and Hensen both admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day and the two were arrested.
Day pleaded guilty on human trafficking charges and was sentenced after appearing at a district court on Monday, according to the Knox County Court Clerk’s Office. Henson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, third-degree possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
The two were both being held in Knox County Detention Center as of Wednesday afternoon.
