Mom of boy whose body was found in suitcase arrested after 2 years on the run

Authorities in California have arrested and charged a woman in connection with her son’s murder after she went on the run for two years. As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Dejaune Anderson was declared wanted after her 5-year-old son’s body was found in a suitcase in April 2022. Prior to Cairo Ammar Jordan’s killing, Anderson for months claimed that her son was possessed.

Per FOX 5 Atlanta, Anderson was finally arrested in Arcadia, California on Thursday, March 14. She has since been charged with murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death, and obstruction of justice.

Indiana State Police said Anderson was arrested after a concerned citizen alerted police about her whereabouts. The suspect was in the process of boarding a Los Angeles Metro Rail train when she was arrested. At the time of this report, authorities in Indiana had made their way to California to question her and also make arrangements for her extradition.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding Cairo’s death determined his mother took to social media on multiple occasions to claim her son required an exorcism because he was possessed by a demon, FOX 5 Vegas reported at the time.

The suitcase containing Cairo’s body was found in Washington County on April 16, 2022. Another woman Anderson referred to as her sister – Dawn Elaine Coleman – was also accused of being involved in the minor’s killing.

Coleman was arrested in California in October 2022 and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and obstruction of justice. She was ultimately sentenced to 25 years in prison and five years of probation. She is also required to testify against Anderson, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Per court documents, Anderson took to Facebook on December 5, 2021, to share a post about her son and exorcism. She shared subsequent posts claiming that she used her blood to perform a ritual that was linked to her son. She is also said to have sent more posts during March. In one of them, Anderson claimed her son had been possessed by a demon.

“Stop getting caught up in the vessels of this realm. You guys get caught up with how old the body is, if they adult and kids, etc. Don’t even know it’s a full-grown demon in the child body telling you what to do because you didn’t choose your soul. Better start using your 3rd eye,” a March 15, 2022, post by Anderson read.

The documents also stated that police engaged Anderson on a chase in South Carolina some days before she shared that post. Her son as well as Coleman were passengers in the car. And though Anderson was ultimately arrested and jailed, she was released later.

Anderson allegedly continued sharing social media posts about exorcism and a child possessed by a demon. Authorities were also able to establish Anderson and Coleman were in Pekin, Indiana on April 14. Two days later, an individual hunting for mushrooms around the location the two suspects were said to be, found Cairo’s remains in a suitcase, FOX5 Vegas reported.

Police say no one contacted them to report Cairo missing. Court documents also stated that the suitcase that contained Cairo’s body was spotted in pictures and videos Coleman posted on her social media platforms.
