Oh Africa
Like a child brimming with innocence
You never withhold
Sharing your best fruits
To the good and bad alike
Rising and setting your sun
Without segregation — black and white alike
Like a woman in labor
You moan and groan
Watching in helpless agony
As your children cut each other down
With reckless abandon
Oh Africa
Land of the high and mighty
Full of abundance and radiant beauty
When did your streets turn desolate
And your sacred places bleak?
How did you pave way for aliens
To hold your pride in utter derision
Oh Africa
Yet shall you rise
Like a phoenix from the fiery furnace
Breaking every yoke that held you down
Nations shall come to your light
And shouts of joy will be heard across your land
The world will know your might
And proclaim that of a truth
My Africa is a land of God
