We are in 2020 and the girl power flame is still blazing as Queen Latifah is set to star in ‘Equalizer’ series reboot for CBS.
The order for the project has been given a nod. This remake will have Queen Latifah take on the iconic role of Robert McCall who uses his skills and prowess to help those “with nowhere to run.”
The original “Equalizer” aired on CBS between 1985 and 1989 for four seasons. The original show was created by Richard Lindheim and Michael Sloan and the character Robert McCall was played by Edward Woodard.
Denzel Washington played this enigmatic character in two feature films released in 2014 and 2018 respectively.
Queen Latifah is not only playing the lead role; this mama will also be an executive producer for the series. Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller are also executive producers, writers, and showrunners on the series.
Shakim Compere of Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment, John Davis, John Fox of Davis Entertainment, Lindheim and Debra Martin Chase of Martin Chase Productions will also be executive producers.
CBS Television Studios will collaborate with Universal Television to produce this project. “Equalizer” will mark the second high-profile action project CBS is working on this season.
The first was a drama starring Dolph Lundgren with Sylvester Stallone as an executive producer. Lundgren would play a black-ops soldier working for the U.N.
