Congolese NBA Star Serge Ibaka to Receive The Humanitarian Award at the FACE List Awards

Face2face Africa has announced that notable NBA star Serge Ibaka will be honored with the Humanitarian Award at the 2017 FACE List Awards, on Saturday, July 15th, in New York.

Dubbed “the most prestigious celebration of pan-African achievement”, The FACE List Awards is an annual awards gala where pioneers and icons of African decent are honored and celebrated for their achievements and impact on the global community.

As the capstone event of the Pan-African Weekend, the awards gala is well known for bringing the business and philanthropic communities together for an extraordinary celebration of pan-African excellence.

In the 6th annual edition, this year’s awards will continue to carry on Face2face Africa’s tradition of honoring a group of inspirational heroes with uniquely fascinating stories to tell, including renowned civil rights leaders, Rev. Al Sharpton, Ethiopian-born business magnate Mimi Alemayehou, global head of hip-hop programming at Spotify Tuma Basa, founder of the women empowerment organization Black Girls Rock Beverly Bond, and serial entrepreneur and real estate developer Adenah Bayoh.

Serge Ibaka, Congolese-born professional basketball player who last played for the Toronto Raptors, will be receiving the Humanitarian Award. Already established as one of the top players in the NBA after seven seasons, Ibaka has used his platform as a basketball player to have an impact off the court through his foundation, the Serge Ibaka Foundation.

The awards dinner/gala will be held on Saturday July 15th, at ESPACE Ballroom in New York City. Pre-reception/Red-Carpet will commence at 6:30 p.m., promptly followed by dinner and the awards show. Grammy Award winning artists Wyclef Jean will be headlining the show with a performance of some of his classics. Guests will enjoy a delectable full-course dinner, a night filled with entertainment and inspiration as well as the opportunity to meet and network with the pioneers, celebrities and power players of pan-African affairs.

The Pan-African Weekend is Presented by Prudential Financial Inc and Toyota USA. Other sponsors include Brussels Airlines and Guinness USA. Tickets, Group Registration, and Advertising are available.  For more information, visit www.panafricanweekend.com or e-mail info@f2fafrica.com.
