South Africa’s Japan Week Brings The Best Of Japan To SA

There is no denying that Sandton City is the biggest square mile in Southern Africa that is garnished with technological advancements in it’s territory.

The majestic Sandton City Shopping Center is playing host to the SA Japan Week that has seen 25 industrial and technological heavy weights such as Nissan, Suzuki, Yamaha, Nikon, Hitachi, Sanrio and current Springboks shirt sponsors Asics showcasing their products to the public.

Japan Week, the first event of its kind, is being sponsored by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), a government agency designed to promote trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.

“We are pleased to bring the SA Japan Week that aims to educate and entertain consumers while also highlighting trade opportunities and partnerships between the two countries,” said JETRO Executive Director, Mr Kimihiko Inaba at a press conference last night.

“We want to surprise and astound South African consumers with what Japan has to offer. We want the consumer to be left enchanted and create a successful transference of passion from Japanese companies to the consumers. This is what drives all Japanese companies; their deep sense of loyalty and passion for what they produce,” added Mr Inaba.

The event that kicked off on Wednesday and closes its door on Sunday, has given hundreds of visitors the opportunity to enjoy what Japan has to offer from Sanrio’s Hello Kitty to Fujifilm’s Frontier printing solution, from artistic body painting, innovative hair products, sportswear and automotive to great gaming from Nintendo’s world renowned brothers – Mario and Luigi.

Japan is a country that is rich in culture and history and is also a leading center of design and innovation. A fascinating blend of tradition and modernity, Japan has a unique way of respecting the old and welcoming the new.
