Samira Bauwmia is the second lady of the Republic of Ghana and one of the country’s leading women in empowerment and fashion. Not only is she a staunch supporter of women and their right and ability to gain a quality education, she also wants them to become economic honchos in their own right. The former TV presenter and beauty queen now spends her time supporting her husband Vice President Mahamadu Bauwmia in their quest to develop Ghana’s political standing. Mrs. Bauwmia has been scrutinized for her sometimes absent hijab as some deem it as a loose representation of her faith, Islam; she doesn’t let the naysayers get her down as she just continues to slay. Second lady Bauwmia was recently honored with the Glitz Africa Magazine Style Icon of The Year Award.
