Thanks to Jay Z and Beyonce, millions flock to one of Europe’s most visited museums

The phrase ‘black power couple’ in entertainment brings Jay Z and Beyonce to mind. Hate them or love them the Carters have engraved their names in gold in the black history and entertainment industry managing to appeal to various communities around the world.

Beyonce is the most loved celebrity both by fans and media so much so that everything she touches and does turns to gold and brings in the numbers while her husband just needs to have his name on a song and the whole world stops to listen.

The interesting thing about the Carters is that their influence is not only limited to the entertainment and fashion industry but has seeped its way into politics, human rights and now western arts and museums.

According to Becauseofthemwecan.com, the Louvre Museum, the world’s largest art museum and historic monument located in Paris, is the worlds most visited Museum thanks to the Carters.  

Since Carters used it in 2018 for their 6-minute-6-second-long video, Apes##t, the Louvre Museum registered a record-breaking number of visits at 10.2 million, a significant rise in attendance and interest after seven years of dormancy.  The last time the Museum recorded such a high number of visitors was in 2012 at 9.7 million. 

Using some of the world most famous paintings found in the museum as the backdrop in the video, the Carters immediately sparked a new interest in European Arts.

From the very famous painting, Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci to the equally popular Jacques-Louis David’s The Coronation of Napoleon,  Jay Z and Beyonce showed off the museum in the most artistic way possible to a large majority of the world’s population that might not have known of the museum.

The couple also sparked a  lot of debate as to why the most popular and most visited museum in the world does not have many black artsites works in it.

While the question still remains unanswered, the large number of visitors plus more exposure that the Louvre Museum is getting might trigger more representation and  diversity in the museum and others around the world.

Until then the museum could add a painting of Jay Z and Beyonce into their collection or get in talks with the couple to be ambassadors.
