The 2013 F.A.C.E. List Awards to Honor Pan-African Achievements in New York City This June

New York, NY- May 20, 2013– Face2faceAfrica is devoted to burnishing the image of Africa within the Diaspora. The Forbes Featured multi-media company established the F.A.C.E. List Awards in 2011 as a platform for the acknowledgement and celebration of pan-African Achievements. The annual awards spotlights and honors distinguished individuals of pan-African descent who have made a significant and notable impact in their respective fields.

The 2013 F.A.C.E. List Awards, proudly sponsored by State Farm, Arik Airlines, ETV and F2FA Magazine, will take place on June 15, 2013 at the exquisite Times Center in the New York Times Building, and will benefit Raising Hope foundation for their work with orphans in Africa. The star-studded black tie event will commence at promptly 7pm with a reception /red carpet, followed by the award ceremony from 8pm-10pm.

This year’s distinguished six honorees include the Executive Secretary of the Economic Comission for Africa Dr. Carlos Lopes, Founder and CEO of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) Madam Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, Founder and Publisher of The network Journal Aziz Adetimirin, Fashion Designer Korto Momolu, Founder of the African Development Foundation George Ntim, and Actress Jackie Appiah.

Their stories are truly inspiring and we are very happy that we get to play such an integral role in showcasing the journey and impact of those who are driving the pan-African community forward in all endeavors. The F.A.C.E. List is not just any ordinary award show. It is an opportunity for those who paved the path to share their stories and hopefully pass the baton to the next generation of change agents and trendsetters.” said CEO Isaac O. Babu-Boateng. 

This year’s show is full of activities, including an opportunity for the public to nominate a young person of African decent for the coveted Young African Committed to Excellence (Y.A.C.E.) Award. The winner will be presented with the award during the show.  To nominate someone, simply send name, age (must be under 30) and a brief bio to info@f2fafrica.com. The Y.A.C.E. Award is presented by Arik Airlines.

All guests who purchase a ticket will be automatically entered into a sweepstake generously sponsored by State Farm and Arik Airlines. The winner will take home 2 round trip tickets to Africa via Arik Air and a $500 State Farm Visa Card plus complimentary insurance and financial services consultation by a State Farm agent.

Advance online registration is required. There will be NO tickets sold at the door.

Sandra Appiah

Sandra Appiah is the Chief Operating Officer at Face2Face Africa. She graduated with honors (Summa Cum laude) from the Newhouse School of public communications (Syracuse University, NY) and spent a lot of time in the media industry working with companies such as the New York Times, HBO, and MTV. An avid believer in Africa with an interest in showcasing the glory of the continent, Ms. Appiah is also host of “The Sandra Appiah Show”, an inspirational talk show that chronicles the journeys of Africa’s movers & shakers. Sandra has been listed in Forbes 30 Under 30: Africa’s Best Young Entrepreneurs in 2013. With an incandescent passion matched only by her abundant ambition and prodigious talent, Ms. Appiah has been at the forefront of the mission for this generation of Africans to seize control of tools by which Africa's narrative is curated, crafted, and presented to the wider world.
