Unesco Racines Heritage To Hold 2nd Annual Little Malaika International Boys and Girls Leadership and Cultural Pageant

Washington, D.C. – UNESCO Club Racines Heritage Foundation (RHF) in partnership with Autism Community of Africa (ACA), will hold the second Little Malaika International Boys & Girls Leadership Cultural Pageant.

The event, which aims to encourage leadership in children and promote multicultural exchange among diverse communities, will take place on Saturday May 25th at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD.

Each contestant, representing diverse cultures of the world from Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, will be judged in three categories — personal introduction, talent and traditional wear, as they compete for the title of Princess and Prince Malaika.

ARIK Air, official sponsor of the Pageant, will provide two (2) tickets for each winner and a parent to travel on Arik Air to any of its west and central Africa destinations via Lagos.

H.E. Jacinth Henry-Martin, Ambassador of St. Kitts & Nevis, will attend as a Guest of Honor and serve as a VIP Judge. "As Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis, I applaud and support the initiative of the organizers of the Little Malaika International Cultural Pageant as they seek to improve the lives of African children affected by autism, and in the process, to empower young minds for leadership through creativity and pageantry," said Ambassador Henry-Martin.

This year, the Pageant has added two main components, public speaking and leadership, both which will be invaluable to the contestants.  Little Malaika has partnered with Warren Brown, celebrity entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and host Food Network’s “Sugar Rush,” to coach the contestants in public speaking.  Brown is introducing the $500 CakeLove Public Speaking Award to the contestant with the best public speaking delivery. Pape Samb, President & CEO of Phelps Stokes and, certified trainer and facilitator, has created a leadership development curriculum for the contestants of Little Malaika to equip them with basic leadership skills and help them navigate through today’s global challenges.

Linord Moudou, Founder of RACINES Heritage Foundation says, “Our goal is to plant the seeds today for tomorrow’s leaders. “Partnering with Warren Brown and Pape Samb will definitely help us to achieve this goal.”

RACINES Heritage Foundation, a member of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, primary health care, and improving the quality of life of communities in Africa in extreme poverty, especially women and vulnerable children, while promoting inter-cultural dialogue in the United States.
