Four Tech Trends That Are Reshaping Africa

Across the globe, technology is changing the way we interact with each other and the world around us. The days of maps, paper money and hailing cabs have been replaced by Google Maps, smart wallets and Uber. Soon, self-driving cars, virtual assistants like Siri or Cortana, and smart homes and buildings will be the norm.

Globally, the IoT (Internet of Things), while once pure science fiction, is becoming real and impacting us at every turn. But while the rest of the world enjoys the benefits of rapid technological development, Africa still experiences many challenges in achieving the promises of technology. In developed nations, internet is widely available, wi-fi signals are robust and ubiquitous, and data plans are affordable, while African countries struggle to make these connections universally available.

That does not mean that technology innovation is not taking place in Africa. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Today, Africa is a hot bed of innovation and invention.

Let’s look at four innovations that are reshaping Africa.
