Two women have accused one of the three officers under investigation in the death of Breonna Taylor of sexual assault. The detective, identified as Brett Hankison, is currently being investigated for the crime and has been placed on administrative leave by the Louisville Police Department.
In a Facebook post, the woman, Margo Borders described the night Hankison offered to give her a ride home from a St. Mattew bar in April 2018.
When they got to her house, he invited himself inside and sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious, the post said.
“It took me months to process what happened and to realize that it wasn’t my fault and I didn’t ask for that to happen by allowing him to give me a ride home,” Borders wrote. “I never reported him out of fear of retaliation. I had no proof of what happened and he had the upper hand because he was a police officer,” she added.
Meanwhile, the second woman, Emily Terry, who described him as “a predator of the worst kind” said that Hankinson grabbed her while making sexual comments.
“He made sexual advances towards me; rubbing my thigh, kissing me forehead and calling me baby,” she wrote.
This isn’t the first time Hankinson has been at the center of cases of this nature. According to media reports, Kendrick Wilson disclosed that Hankinson has arrested him three times since 2016 because he had a relationship with a woman they both dated.
The allegations against Hankison have been sent to Governor Andy Beshear. “It’s important to take it seriously. We live in a world with rape culture,” Beshear said on Monday.
“If any of those individuals want to speak either to LMPD, KSP, or investigators in the attorney general’s office, any of those law enforcement officers should listen and take it very seriously.”
