Zendaya nabs new role as Valentino ambassador

Zendaya is the gift that keeps on giving because even though 2020 has been a tough year for many, the 24-year-old has had quite a good year. To finish the year off, Zendaya is the new face of Valentino, the fashion powerhouse announced last week.

“The reason why we chose Zendaya as the new face for Valentino is because she perfectly embodies and represents what Valentino is and stands for, today,” said Valentino Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli in a release. “She is a powerful and fierce young woman that uses her talent and her work to express herself, her values and her generation as well.”

The Euphoria star is not new to this fashion game as she has worked with Lancôme and Bulgari, and designed a whole collection with Tommy Hilfiger. However, it is her activism in between shoots and all the creativeness that makes her stand out among her peers.

Zendaya is described as “a feminine force full of emotional vibrancy, she interprets the meaning of each creation she wears,” on the brand’s site.

Her socials were used to mobilize her followers to massively go out and vote during the 2020 US elections, not forgetting how she educated and spoke out against police brutality especially at the peak of the Black Lives Matter protests that swept the US and the world this year.

For the campaign photos, she poses barefoot on a wooden table holding Valentino’s Garavani Roman Stud accessories while donning a flouncy white high-neck dress in one photo, and lace embellished off-the-shoulder dress in another, both from the fashion house’s 2021 Diary Collection, Elle reports.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the face of Valentino,” Zendaya said of the news. “I’m so excited to begin this amazing collaboration with Pierpaolo and the entire Valentino family.”

This year, the former Disney star has graced quite a number of magazine covers and she recently made history as the youngest person to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for her role as Rue in the hit series Euphoria at the Emmys.
