Waragi
Waragi, also known as ‘Enguli’, is a blanket name for domestic distilled beverages in Uganda. It is usually given different names as per the region of origin, the distillation process, or both. Waragi is known as a form of homemade gin.
The most widely known types are “Kasese-Kasese”, originally from the district of Kasese in western Uganda and “Lira-Lira” from the Lira district in northern Uganda and all over the country as well.
The method of production accounts for different tastes. A commercial brand, Uganda Waragi, produced by East African Breweries Limited is more available.
