Authorities in Louisiana have said that a four-year-old girl died after the minor’s grandmother and mother forced her to drink a bottle of whiskey that was “over half full.” The suspects, identified as 53-year-old Roxanne Record and Kadjah Record, 28, have since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, Baton Rouge Police Department announced, according to KSWB-TV.
Investigators said the deceased girl’s mother watched on as Roxanne Record forced the four-year-old to drink the bottle of whiskey. Booking documents stated that the women became angry after little China Record took a sip of the whiskey. The two adult suspects then went ahead to force the minor to consume the rest of the alcoholic drink. The bottle was said to be “over half full.”
Police said Kadjah Record witnessed the incident and failed to stop” Roxanne “from providing the alcohol,” New York Post reported. The minor was later placed in a bathtub after she became unresponsive.
Police said they believe China’s cause of death was acute alcohol poisoning. The deceased minor’s blood alcohol content was .680%, per KSWB-TV. In Louisiana, it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more.
