The height of racism and segregation against the African-American community started in the 1900s when enslaved black people were set free.
With their emancipation, the African Americans began to develop their society, take education seriously and have time to develop an interest in the creative industry and pursue it. This posed as a threat to the whites who felt the African Americans were doing everything possible to dominate their country. Many of these whites were supremacists who believed that the African American was only of good use as a slave and did everything possible to suppress them.
With the development of the Harlem Renaissance, African Americans started supporting each other and developed a strong network that could resist racism and segregation. But this was only for a while.
Soon, they started gaining funds that allowed them to travel out of America and identify with the less tensed platform that Europe provided. Here are 6 globally recognised personalities that left the USA to thrive in Europe and escape racism.
