Thousands of mourners have gathered in Soweto in South Africa for the official memorial service for Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, the anti-apartheid campaigner and former wife of the late President Nelson Mandela.
The memorial service which is being held at Orlando Stadium in Soweto comes ahead of a funeral service to be held on Saturday.
Madikizela-Mandela died in a hospital in Johannesburg on April 2 at the age of 81 after a long illness.
Many saw the anti-apartheid campaigner as a controversial figure but others looked at her as the Mother of the Nation due to her struggle against white minority rule in South Africa.
