She birthed a race of beauty
Nurtured her sons and daughters on lands of riches
Provided them soil that would sprout life-giving foods
She saw the invaders come
Their skin milky, white
She weeped for her children
They left her with trails of blood
for they were gone
She waited for them to return home
She watched from a far
Chains and whips is what they know now
She became a memory to them
She became a flaw
Still she waited for them to return home
Years, decades, centuries
She can no longer wait,”
“Come home, my children,
“Come home.”
