After several failed attempts, this couple owns the first black business park in Fort Washington

Wyevetra and Jarriel Jordan are the owners of the first black-owned business park in Fort Washington. The couple shared their milestone in a TikTok video that has since gone viral, with many celebrating them.

The Jordan family obtained the property through The Home Team Realty Group, which they started in 2021, according to WUSA 9. Wyevetra and Jarriel run the company, and have employed their son, Jarriel, a realtor with the company, and their daughter, who runs their Title company.

For the Jordans, their real estate business is beyond just keeping a family legacy, WUSA 9 says the family wants to keep building

The Jordans’ real estate business is more than just maintaining a family legacy, According to WUSA 9, the family wants to keep building a strong community legacy by continuing to mentor the youth with their foundation, Jacobs Ladder, and hiring more agents and community partners.

“If you want something truly dynamic and truly that’s going to empower the community and yourself, you have to put a little skin in the game,” Jordan said, according to WUSA 9.

The Jordans also add that when they first made the offer to acquire The Home Team Realty Group, it was refused three times before the deal finally sailed through.

“We wanted to be the ones to show folks you can do this, you have to be grounded and have a lot of structure to achieve those goals,” Jordan added.

Before their latest venture, Wyevetra worked in the Budget and Finance office of the federal government for 25 years. Before that, she run a business and a nonprofit organization called Jacob’s Ladder Youth Foundation.

According to Because of Them We Can, Wyevetra started Home Team Realty Group as a small team in 2017, but after much success, formed an independent brokerage, opening its doors in 2021.

The company is now considered one of the most important real estate businesses, and has assisted over 200 Maryland families buy, sell, and invest in real estate.
