Poem: Our Children, Our Treasure

When you look into my eyes,
What do you see, I asked my mama
“I see a beautiful girl with a lovely face,” said my mama
Not at all I told my mama
For deep in the mind of a child,
Are treasures, treasures untold,
Treasures waiting to be unfolded.

I asked my mama,
Can you help to unfold the treasures,
“Yes,” said my mama,
“But how,” she asked?
I told her to dig deep in to me,
And see beyond my lovely face
Then she will see the virtues and hidden treasures
That make up her beautiful girl
Treasures waiting to be unfolded

Then I told my mama
All you need do is to be my best friend
Only then can you dig out the treasures untold
Only then can you see the virtues I’m made of
And then you can unfold the treasures untold
For deep in the mind of a child
Are treasures, treasures untold
Treasures waiting to be unfolded

For to every child there are treasures untold
Treasures waiting to be unfolded
Oh! Dear parents, we plead with you
To be just our true friend
Only then can you dig out the treasures untold
Only then can you see the virtues we are made of
And then you can unfold the treasures untold
For deep in the mind of a  child
