Dubai Tourism Department to Host 500 African Trade Delegates in June

Driven by the resolve to promote and support the growth of tourism in Africa, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has announced its decision to host 500 African travel trade delegates to experience Dubai in June this year. The delegates will be hosted during the World Trade Market (WTM) Africa and include 150 delegates from the Southern Africa region.

Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), is the principal authority for the planning, supervision, development and marketing of Dubai’s tourism sector. It also markets and promotes the Emirate’s commerce sector, and is responsible for the licensing and classification of all tourism services, including hotels, tour operators and travel agents.

Brands and departments within the Dubai Tourism portfolio include Dubai Convention and Events Bureau, Dubai Calendar, and Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (formerly known as Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment).

Dubai Tourism’s mission is to increase the awareness of Dubai among global audiences and to attract tourists and inward investment into the Emirates, while its ultimate vision is premised on positioning Dubai as the world’s leading tourism destination and commercial hub.

The event, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday, will be taking place from 2 June through 7 June 2016, adding that Dubai Tourism will host Africa’s top travel trade for a four-day, five-night stay so that they can effectively communicate the one-of-a-kind holiday experience Dubai offers to their customers.

The professionals will receive first-hand experience of Dubai’s extensive retail, gastronomic and family offering, while also visiting the country during it’s summer months of June, July and August, when Southern Africans will likely be looking for an escape from the winter cold and can take advantage of the numerous deals on offer.

Stella Obinwa, the Regional Director for Africa at Dubai Tourism said the Department was pleased to announce the lofty initiative, which according to her is designed to further their commitment to the African travel trade.

“This proposed trip is a great chance for African travel trade professionals to see all Dubai has to offer, and use this knowledge to further their own businesses”, she stressed.
