Loss of Life
Every day, Africans are waking up to horrifying incidents of mass slaughter by radical Islamic militants, who unfortunately seem to target innocent civilians. In the last year alone, thousands of innocent people in Africa have died while others have been left with lifelong injuries, thanks to terrorism.
In April 2015, Kenya experienced one of the deadliest terror attacks in its history when Al-Shabaab militants from neighboring Somalia attacked Garissa University in Northern Kenya, leaving 140 students dead and hundreds injured.
This attack was followed by another major assault in January this year, when the same militants attacked a Kenya Defense Forces camp in El Ade, Somalia. Although the Kenyan government hasn’t clearly revealed how many soldiers died, reports suggest that more than 100 army officers may have been killed.
In January 2015, Nigeria suffered a bloodbath after Boko Haram militants invaded the town of Baga and slaughtered about 2,000 residents, most of them women and children. Of course, no one can forget that Boko Haram has held over two hundred Chibok school girls hostage for more than two years, with only one girl recently escaping their camp.
