The coronavirus pandemic has temporarily shut down some businesses with the music and entertainment industry taking a major hit. To mitigate the spread and transmission of the virus, shows, concerts and other entertainment-related events have been cancelled.
People have also – through government and health directives – been advised and ordered to remain indoors as another preventive measure.
As a way to still connect with fans and entertain them while the whole world is virtually on a lockdown, soul singer, Erykah Badu, announced she will be having a ‘Quarantine Concert Series’ live from her bedroom where fans will see her perform some of their favorite songs for just $1.
Taking to her Instagram to announce the interactive livestream experience from her bedroom on Wednesday, Ms. Badu revealed fans will get to choose the songs she performs.
“Peace and love. The show must go on –we gotta keep moving ya’ll, we gotta keep this thing going. We’re a community of artists who – our survival depends on performing, creating, laughing, living, and loving when we’re still alive,” she said.
“We gon’ pull it off. We gon’ be calm. You gon’ help me make it happen. Can’t do it without you. Stay tuned for details,” she also captioned in the video post.
She also revealed that the series will begin over the weekend. Take a look at her announcement below:
In a related news, the soul singer stylishly wore a high fashion hazmat suit to the Austin Film Society’s 20th Texas Film Awards in Texas. According to global black lifestyle news platform, Nsuri, the singer, who named her conspicuous suit “Bootleg Hazmat”, revealed it was a component of her own “social distancing couture.”
The outfit was sprayed with the Louis Vuitton logos and complemented with accessories including gloves, a face mask, visor, feathered booties and a facebeat.
She graced the event to accept the Filmmakers/Soundtrack award celebrating “her many roles in film, writing, directing and editing in all her own videos for the past 22 years,” ET Canada reports.
