Ex-boyfriend of Whitney Houston’s daughter dead on New Year’s Day

Legendary pop singer Whitney Houston was found dead in February 2012 at a Beverly Hills hotel. She was 48.

Houston died from an accidental drowning in a hotel bathtub, but the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use” were contributing factors in her death.

Her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown succumbed to death after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in January 2015. She remained in a coma until her death six months later on July 26, 2015, aged 22 years. An autopsy declared that drug intoxication and immersion in water were the cause of the pneumonia and brain damage that ultimately led to her death.

And on New Year’s Day, Nick Gordon, the former boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown, has died three years after he was found liable for her death. In his case also, the 30-year-old reportedly died of an apparent drug overdose. Sources told The Daily Mail he suffered several heart attacks before being rushed to Altamonte Springs Hospital where he was treated in the ICU before he died.

Houston brought Gordon into her household as an orphan at the age of 12, raising him and her daughter after divorcing Bobby Brown in 2007. Curiously the music superstar never fully adopted him or included him in her will.

And upon her death in 2012, Gordon and Brown made public their love affair. The relationship brewed tensions between the Gordon and Houston families about the appropriateness of the union. However, when Bobbi Kristina Brown died, he was engaged to her.

It didn’t stop the Houston family from blaming Gordon for her death accusing him of giving her a “toxic cocktail” before putting her face-down in the water.

Although Gordon was never charged in the case, he was found responsible in a wrongful death lawsuit with an Atlanta judge ordering him to pay $36 million to Brown’s estate.

Of his death, Gordon’s attorney, Joe Habachy in a statement on Wednesday noted: “My heart is heavy today after learning that my longtime client Nick Gordon died ... while I cannot speak to the specific circumstances of his death, I can say that it’s been truly heartbreaking to have witnessed first hand the total devastation that drug addiction has wreaked upon a group of young friends, all of whom were loved and had immense potential.”

Gordon’s brother, Jack Walker, Jr. also submitted to People: “We are devastated by the loss of my beautiful brother. He leaves a void in the hearts of my family and his friends. Nick’s battle in life was not an easy one. I will be forever grateful that my God afforded a small moment at the very end of Nick’s life, and I was able to hold his hand as he journeyed on.”

It rounds up a lethal mix of great talent plagued by a drug scourge in a household where three lives shared 100 years amongst them on earth.
