You might see them on your TV Screens or on various products, but you might have not known that these product ambassadors are from the motherland. Lets take a look at some of the most in demand Global Brand Ambassadors with an African connection.

1) Thandie Newton

Thandiwe Adjewa Newton is an amazingly talented and beautiful English actress. She is British by birth and upbringing but this class act (pun intended)is also of Zimbabwean descent, as her mother is from Zimbabwe. Thandie became a spokesperson for global beauty giant, Olay, in 2010.

2) Sofia Boutella

Algerian Sofia Boutella breaks boundaries and defies gravity – literally. This beautifully strong woman inspires women every day to be the very best athletes they can through her amazing professional dancing abilities. It’s no wonder then that massive sportswear company Nike tapped her to be one of their Nike women.

3)  Idris Elba

Idrissa Akuna Elba is, for so many women of all ethnicities, a heart throb. However, he is (thankfully) more than just that: this very talented British actor of Ghanaian and Sierra Leonian descent also become a Golden Globes winner this year when he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV series for his brilliant performance in BBC drama, Luther. Idris can celebrate that along with his recent selection as brand ambassador for Smart Water, one of the biggest “enhanced” water companies under Glaceau.

 

   4) Terry Pheto

Lovely and incredibly South African actress, Terry Pheto, made her huge splash with her absolutely incredible performance in Oscar-winning South African foreign language movie, Tsotsi. She has since landed a role on popular U.S. soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. In 2008, this beauty was selected as a brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris when they started to market their line towards women with darker skin tones – and she rocks it!

Famously referred to by Oprah as “the Julia Roberts of Africa” on her now defunct TV show and one of the most recognizable faces in cinemas across Africa, Genevieve Nnaji is at her prime, and her star is still rising. This former CNN Connector of the Day is currently the global brand ambassador for Luna Milk.
