Five amazing tourist sites in Dominica you must visit

Dominica, the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, was formed by visible geothermal-volcanic activities. Gaining its independence from British rule in 1978, it joins a host of islands discovered by Christopher Columbus in the 15th century.

It celebrates its independence every 3rd November. Famously known as the “Nature Isle of the Caribbean” due to its environment, the island has lush mountains, rain forests and it is home to rare plants, animals and bird species.

With an economy driven by agriculture, the island is highly vulnerable to extreme weather conditions.

As a result of the devastating Hurricane Dean in 2017, the government has diversified the agricultural sector by promoting the production of coffee, patchouli, aloe vera, cut flowers, and exotic fruits such as mango, guava, and papaya.
