Kelvin Giron-Brand allegedly used a device to steal over $1,700 worth of fuel -- Photos via Delaware State Police
Authorities in New Jersey said a 34-year-old man allegedly fixed a special device on a gas station fuel pump before stealing $1,700 worth of fuel. According to Fox News, the January 23 incident happened at a Wawa gas station in Delaware.
The suspect, identified as Kelvin Giron-Brand, is said to have stolen the fuel after manipulating the fuel pump. He was later arrested at the location after police received a report about a theft.
Giron-Brand was said to be in a van when authorities responded to the scene. Authorities said his arrest came in the wake of reports about diesel fuel thefts occurring at several Wawa stations in the location. The thefts were carried out after the stations’ fuel pumps were manipulated with devices.
Troopers who responded to the scene also determined the said device had been fixed on the fuel pump that Giron-Brand was using. Several containers filled with fuel valued at over $1,700 were also found in the suspect’s white Ford van.
Authorities said the manipulation device helped Giron-Brand to pay less than $20 for the fuel he allegedly stole, Fox News reported. He faces felony charges including shoplifting over $1,500, possession for burglar tools or instruments involving disabling of security systems, and second-degree conspiracy.
