Poem: Can I Tell You My Sins?

Can I tell you my sins?
So many of them I can’t even keep count
Actions that have left a trail of tears in its wake
Words that have swung life out of hearts

Can I tell you my sins?
Demons I have reared which have grown so big it haunts
Fears and insecurities that make my skull want to burst
Skeletons so numerous the cupboard overflows

Can I tell you my sins?
Let you in to my inner sanctum
Where peace and turmoil fight for possession
And thoughts and desires are bared without inhibitions

Can I tell you my sins?
Show you my struggle to maintain sanity
Even when all I want is to be insane
To be me in the weirdest of ways

Can I tell you my sins?
Or would you be scared because you’re a saint
And you don’t have dirty thoughts and absurd desires
Only good intentions as the world seemingly requires

Can I tell you my sins?
Oh are you imperfect too?
Do you struggle with the same things I’m faced with?

Maybe I can tell you my sins and you tell me yours too.
