Ghana’s international football player Jordan Ayew (pictured), son of the legendary Abedi Pele, has signed a four-year deal with French side FC Lorient. Ayew, who along with brother Andre Ayew were a part of Ghana’s World Cup team in Brazil, will remain in the French league, even though there are opportunities elsewhere in Europe.

Ayew showed fantastic form in the pre-tournament for Ghana this summer, when he scored a hat-trick against South Korea. He was not on the score sheet in Brazil, but his overall improvement at the World Cup clearly have caught the eyes several clubs: Schalke 04, Borussia Monchengladbach, West Bromwich Albion, and Hull City, which have all expressed interest in signing the young forward.
Even though Ayew had much success with his last club, Sochaux, he could not avoid relegation, which ended his six-month loan with the club. In the past season, Ayew showcased his potential with the way he shined in France’s top league.
The France-born Ayew told BBC Sport, “This is the perfect place for me, and I am really looking forward to joining the squad and continu[ing] in this competitive championship.”
“All I want to do is give my best to the club, and hopefully, it will be a successful time for everyone associated with the team,” he continued.
At Lorient, which has in recent times shown a commitment to playing a spectacular brand of football under the guidance of coach Christian Gourcuff, Ayew could be a hit.
Ayew told FC Lorient, “The style and quality of play offered here suits me perfectly. I am also very impressed by the infrastructure of the FCL.”
