Being his maiden visit to Kenya, his fans were pregnant with expectation, hoping to have the best night of their lives. But from the look of things, the celebrated Nigerian artist Tekno Miles fell short of his much-hyped accolades.
After spending their hard-earned cash on expensive tickets to Tekno’s first-ever concert in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, some Kenyans have taken to social media to express their disappointment at what they’ve termed as a “shoddy performance” by the artist on Saturday.
They say the much-publicized concert at Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi, was marred by a series of technical and security hitches, putting the organizers’ level of preparedness to question. Some of the attendees have also dismissed Tekno’s 28-minute performance as a big “joke”.
Even some popular local artists are weighing in on the conversation, blaming Kenyans for not appreciating local talent. Here is what Bien Baraza of Sauti Sol had to say about the performance.
But the artist, who is known for his international hits such as “Diana”, “Pana”, “Rara”, and many others, had a different version of the story.
The plush concert, whose tickets cost 4,000 Kenyan shillings for regular and 10,000 shillings for VIP, also featured a couple of renowned local artists, including “The Kansoul”, “xclusive Kace”, “Ally Fresh”, and “Redsan”.
