Luxury Social Affair Celebrates African Popular Culture in New York City

Welcome to Glamour, Glitz & Elegance of Africa in the Big Apple New York, NY (May 14, 2012)—On Saturday June 2, publicity company, MUI – The PR Company (MUIPR), will host its annual DJ Universe Luxury W.H.I.T.E Party for consumers of African Pop Culture, from 9:30pm until 3am, at the Thompson-Smyth Hotel, 85 West Broadway, Tribeca, New York, NY.

The night will feature music from an array of sources: African Pop, Afro-Cuban, Billboard’s Top 100 Hits, Dance, R&B and House. With its luxurious ambience, there is no better venue to celebrate the upscale lifestyle that is African Pop Culture in NYC. The affair will also host the inaugural DJ Universe Afro-Beats Cypher, the world’s only gathering of freestyle rappers in the African Diaspora whose lyrical works have permeated the everyday lives of Africans and non-Africans alike.

This year’s world cypher, presented by the world’s most expensive deejay, DJ Universe, celebrates four unsigned artists: Smalls (Ghana), VS (South Africa) Doggext and Raspy (Nigeria). Since DJ Universe entered the NYC entertainment scene less than two years ago, he has carried out a public awareness agenda that is changing this musical landscape in NYC. At fashion events across the city, nightclubs, corporate events in prestigious venues, and special events such as weddings, DJ Universe has pioneered an innovative genre in music termed “Afro Electronica” that cuts across all Diaspora of the NYC club scene. In such a short period, his work has infused Afro-pop with urban techno beats, to create an urban renaissance in sound that edifies the existing nightlife scene in NYC.

According to Genevieve, publicist at MUIPR, “the purpose of the DJ Universe Luxury W.H.I.T.E Party and the DJ Universe Afro-Beats Cypher are one the same. Both celebrate the tasteful production and consumption of African pop culture in NYC. Thanks to the presence of DJ Universe and the freestyle rappers partaking in the inaugural Afro-Beats Cypher, African pop culture in NYC has never been more significant, trendy, and cool, than now.”

Due to the increasingly popular nature of African Pop culture in NYC, it is no surprise then that some of the confirmed guests for the event already include business leaders, philanthropists and young entrepreneurs from various art, media, fashion and entertainment industries.

A limited number of tickets are available for free by sending an email to info@muipr.com. Only emailed RSVPs will be honored.
