Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has stepped in to assist the YouTuber who purchased his wrecked Rolls Royce for £184,000 ($233,000) after a viral video of the acquisition garnered over five million views.
Rashford was involved in a collision in the £700,000 vehicle last September, although neither he nor the other driver, an elderly woman, sustained injuries. After being declared a write-off due to extensive damage, the car was auctioned off and bought by YouTuber Mat Armstrong, whose video documenting the purchase gained significant traction online, as reported by Daily Mail.
Upon discovering the viral video, Rashford and his team reached out to Armstrong, offering assistance in restoring the custom Mansory Black Badge Wraith.
A message from Rashford’s team to Armstrong read: “Hi, I deal with all of the cars from Marcus, I believe we still have a few bits from the car you might need.”
“We might have the v5 spare key and a couple more bits from when the car got recovered. We also have the ghost code and tracker information if you want us to get them to you?”
Upon accepting the offer from Rashford’s team, Armstrong received additional items to aid in the restoration of the Rolls Royce, including a Mansory bag, car cover, floor and boot mats, grill surround, a Rolls Royce front grill with the Mansory insert, wheel cap, and black spirit of ecstasy.
In a new video, Armstrong expressed gratitude to Rashford and his team for the added support and shared new details about the crash, alleging that the other driver hit Rashford’s car while attempting to change lanes.
He said, “I want to say thanks for Rashford’s team for giving us all of this because they didn’t have to. It saved us so much money.”
Rashford’s Rolls Royce, with less than 1000 miles on the odometer, suffered extensive damage before being sold to Armstrong. Armstrong, unfamiliar with Rolls Royce repairs, bought another model for parts, enabling him to revive Rashford’s vehicle.
The YouTuber intends to raffle a signed wing of the car, hoping Rashford will contribute his signature, with proceeds benefiting the FareShare foodbank charity, a cause championed by the Manchester United forward.
