Shirley-Ann Fraser-Pryce

Shirley-Ann Fraser-Pryce was a household name in athletics before 2019. The Jamaican sprinter won gold at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games.

But even in the non-Olympic years, Fraser-Pryce was still the one to beat in separate championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015. But a toe injury and childbirth kept her out between 2016 and 2018.

But when she returned at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Fraser-Pryce became the oldest woman to win a 100m world title at the age of 32. What her victory also taught was that for women, a world-class professional athletic career does not necessarily have to end because a baby came along.
