The Prince of Wales and heir apparent to the British throne Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are just about ending their royal visit to West Africa.
The visit, which has seen them tour Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria is part of an effort by the crown to “strengthen” the bonds between the country and the Commonwealth, including “celebrating some shared values and cultures between the United Kingdom and these countries, as well as throwing the searchlight on a number of important commitments”.
From funny and awkward moments to the usual exaggerated sensationalism by some sections of the British media, the royal visit has so far been an interesting one and has been received with mixed feelings.
