On Wednesday, a group of armed Ethiopian soldiers marched to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office to demand a pay rise. According to BBC, Abiy, who was unhappy with them brandishing weapons ordered them to do 10 press-ups to which he, later on, joined much to the delight of those “under punishment”.

About their salary grievances, BBC also reported that Abiy, after the meeting, said in a statement that he would “look into their complaints”. He, however, gave no assurances as he urged them to be considerate looking at the country’s current economic situation.
