Taiwo of Gospel Duo Oshadipe Twins Dies

 

On Friday morning, Nigerian gospel artist Taiwo of the Oshadipe Twins (pictured) unexpectedly passed away, after reportedly complaining about chest pains, according to the Nation.

Taiwo and Kehinde Oshadipe are relatively popular gospel artists who have been making music for a little more than a decade now.

Taiwo, according to Manager Olu Akinsanya, went to Lagos State Teaching Hospital last month when she was feeling ill. In response, Taiwo was reportedly given some medications and soon felt better.

“The illness wasn’t serious. She felt better when she started taking the drugs,” Akinsanya said.

But by this past Wednesday, Taiwo suddenly said she wasn’t feel well again, so her doctor reportedly told her to come in. According to her manager, Taiwo received more medicine and the doctor scheduled her for a follow-up appointment on Friday.

By Friday, though, Taiwo began complaining about pain once again, and Kehinde was the one to transport her back to the hospital.

However, by the time the pair arrived at the hospital, Taiwo was pronounced dead.

“It is still very shocking to me. I saw her on Wednesday and we talked and joked. We even talked about my forthcoming wedding. She promised to play at my wedding, so she asked me not to invite any other musician,” Akinsanya said.

“The autopsy report will be out soon. But I know she had recovered from the illness. The last thing she complained about was the chest pain and that was what led to her death two days after.”

The Oshadipe Twins are best-known for their hit “Dide Olorun Mi.” Beginning their singing careers in the church, they burst on to the music scene back in 1999 with their debut album, “Jesus Came to Africa.”

Besides her sister and larger family, Taiwo leaves behind a baby boy, which she gave birth to just last year.
