Ariel Investment is a global mutual fund, private equity, and asset management firm founded in 1983 by John Washington Rogers Jr. It was formerly Ariel Capital Management. Ariel Investment made history on Wall Street in 1983 as the first Black-owned and oldest mutual fund firm in the U.S. Four decades on, Ariel Investment has navigated through the challenges in the investment industry, managing over $15 billion in assets.
The firm recently launched its Project Black fund with the support of a $200 million commitment from JP Morgan. Project Black focuses on investing and scaling sustainable minority-owned businesses by investing in middle-market businesses that are not yet minority-owned and transforming the companies into certified minority enterprises and minority-owned enterprises.
