Calabash International Literary Festival – Jamaica
Literary lovers are sure to have a great time at the Calabash International Literary Festival held in Jamaica every other year. Since 2001, the festival, which was started by novelist Colin Channer with the support of two friends, globally acclaimed poet Kwame Dawes and the producer Justine Henzell has brought writers, poets and literary activists from Jamaica, the Caribbean, Africa and other parts of the world together for a few days of everything literature and literary. What is more thrilling is the fact that attendees can still have a taste of Caribbean life while attending this festival. The venue of the 3-day festival, the Treasure Beach is transformed into a literary haven with a touch of music, kite flying and food to go with it. The festival, which is usually held in June sometimes takes place at the end of May.
