Djibouti
Despite being a very small country with a population less than a million people, Djibouti is considered Africa’s most prone earthquake zone.
According to the Earthquake intensity Mercalli Scale which has a roman numerical ranking of I (light) to XII(catastrophic), Djibouti ranks at IX-XII, which translates as disastrous to catastrophic. The country’s highest earthquake according to the Richters scale had a magnitude of 6.2 in 1992. The last earthquake in Djibouti was in April 2008.
Its neighbouring country, Eritrea is also Earthquake prone with a lower record of earthquakes.
