South Africa
Close to 70 per cent of South Africa is prone to disastrous earthquakes. According to Professor Andrzej Kijko at the National Hazard Centre from the University of Pretoria, more than 95 per cent of earthquakes in South Africa is caused by mining activities, which cause some disturbance in the eath that trigger severe earth tremors and quakes.
The most destructive earthquake in South African history recorded a magnitude of 6.0 in 1969. It destroyed a local farm and was felt in Botswana. South Africa has a record of 12 earthquakes between 1969 and 2014.
