We have all been told that one of the best ways to protect ourselves against the spread of the deadly coronavirus is to wash our hands with soap and water.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter has just reminded us of the need to do so regularly with a simple DIY science experiment. In an Instagram video posted on Saturday by her grandma Tina Knowles, eight-year-old Blue conducts an experiment showing the effect soap has on germs.
“Hey y’all,” Blue says in the clip. “And since we’re stuck at home, I have this little DIY experiment that you can do at home too.”
In the video, which has been viewed almost 50,000 times, Blue is seen with a bowl of water with specks of pepper in it to represent the novel coronavirus. She then covers her finger in soap and sticks that finger into the bowl. This causes the pepper to disperse to the sides of the bowl.
“This is why it’s very important to wash your hands,” Blue says.
“Cause if you wash your hands, your hands will stay clean. But if you keep your hands dirty, you might get sick.”
“So, peace out. I hope you guys are staying safe. Wash your hands extra, and please stay at home. Love y’all. Bye!”
Fans are showing their love for Blue’s experiment and are proud of her for using her platform for a good cause, just like her mom, Beyoncé.

The music icon, during a virtual appearance on ABC’s “Disney Family Singalong” Thursday, paid tribute to healthcare workers on the front line by performing a touching rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star” from the 1940 animated classic “Pinocchio.”
Signing off, the 38-year-old music icon, who starred in the live-action remake of Disney’s “The Lion King,” asked viewers to “Please hold on to your families tight, please be safe, don’t give up hope. We’re going to get through this, I promise. God bless you.”
