Watch: Usher’s 15-year-old son shocks the internet with his voice

Naviyd Ely, Usher’s 15-year-old son, caused a buzz on the internet after taking part in a friendly sing-off with actor and musician Nathan Davis Jr. In a TikTok video, the Marvel’s “Runaways” actor posted the two having a moment inside the lobby of a hotel in Las Vegas during Super Bowl weekend.

His vocal abilities surprised netizens, who had no idea he possessed such a captivating singing voice, which many believe he inherited from his father. Davis began the impromptu battle by performing Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing).” Throughout the performance, Naviyd maintained a smile, but when attention was focused on him, he paused in thought, trying to figure out the ideal song selection to surpass his rival.

An off-camera fan hailed the teenager, saying, “You your daddy son.” Naviyd laughed and conveyed worry at his vocal change, saying, “I’m not trying to crack at the start.” Davis used a video clip of Alicia Keys singing “If I Ain’t Got You” during her guest performance at Usher’s halftime show in his edit of the video which caused many to laugh.

Despite singing Keyshia Cole’s beloved song “Love” in a falsetto, Naviyd, unlike the renowned musician, was able to avoid any vocal cord hiccups. When he concluded, the people filming the challenge erupted in cheers while clapping.

Davis teased a sample of Usher watching the video of their sing-off, but part two, indicating who was crowned champion, has yet to be posted.

While some selected who won, others appreciated both artists. However, other people expressed their surprise, commenting, “ushers sons voice is very unique and beautiful. I wasn’t expecting that.”

Another said, “He didn’t sound bad. He needs a little confidence,and some vocal coaching,and he’d be sound better.” One commented, “He lowkey sounds like his dad tho. He just needs more strength, confidence and control.”

Usher recently revealed on “Today with Hoda and Jenna” that Naviyd had plenty of ideas for his set list ahead of his big event.

“The greatest list I received is actually from my son, Naviyd. He is my music director. He has given me a curation of how much time in addition to the songs,” he expressed.

Usher shares Naviyd, his look-alike son with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, whom he divorced in 2009 after two years of marriage.
