Without these African towns, the Pan-African dream would never have been born

Algiers

The capital city of Algeria was the host of the first ever Pan African festival in 1969. The festival hosted a number of African delegates as well as visitors from the African Diaspora including members of the Black Panther movement in the United States.

At the time, the president of Algeria president Houari Boumedienne was the chairman of the OAU.
