Idrissa Ouedraogo – Burkina Faso
Idrissa Ouedraogo has been described as a filmmaker of immense talent who changed the face of the Burkina Faso movie industry. His works explored the conflict between rural and city life and tradition and modernity in his country. Several of his movies won awards with the most popular being Tilai. Idrissa is not only popular for making films but using his art as a way of preserving the cultural history of his country. He featured several times at the Cannes Film Festival speaking about the importance of more films being done by Africans to tell the original African story. Idrissa died at the age of 64 in February 2018 with more than 10 movies to his credit.
