There is a popular adage that says behind every successful man is a woman and African leaders have some stellar women helping them run their various countries.

These first ladies are successful in their own right and they are well educated, smart and beautiful.

Most of them stun us with their gorgeous fashion sense, especially when it comes to representing the country at international events. These first ladies – past and present – are always fashion-forward with their style and tend to be fashion influencers effortlessly.

Angola’s former first lady is a real eye-pleaser as she rocks every outfit to the teeth like the fashion model that she was. She is the wife of ex-president José Eduardo dos Santos whose term of office ended in 2017. This mother of three is a teacher and lawyer and was very active during her husband’s reign despite facing criticisms.
