A young Ghanaian artist, Bright Danso, is redefining the art industry in the West African country in an intriguing way.
Danso, a Technical University student studying Industrial Painting and Design, makes fascinating artworks using actual fire.
Called Pyrography, his kind of art adopts the use of heat to make fun and creative artworks by burning and engraving on wood.
Danso credits his love for fire artworks to his lecturer, who ignited that passion in him. He learned from his lecturer that when the heat is present, it compels people to think well.
Hence, his resolve to resort to the use of heat in his artworks. Today with his thinking cap on, Danso produces unique and quality art pieces using fire.
One of his artworks named “Black Unitech” was inspired by the fact that one cannot see through what is going on in another person’s mind let alone tell what is going on there. The meaning is that one cannot be judged by his or her physical looks.
King Amenophis, as he calls himself, wants to be a globally recognized pyrographer.
Beyond using fire for arts, Danso is also a sculptor and painter. He sees economic potential in the Ghana Arts industry and hopes that parents will afford their kids the opportunity to pursue arts like any other discipline.
“The art profession is a tool that can develop not just the home but the world because Art forms part of our daily life and that’s why we say Art is Life,” he said.
Danso is working towards completing his education this year. He wants to further his education in any part of the world where his gift and passion for the art could be nurtured, developed and maximized to the fullest.
”I would love to do my Masters Degree at Texas Tech University or Florence Academy of Art,” Danso stated.
He also makes furniture designs for homes, hotels, restaurants and historic sites that meet global standards.
